Legal Certainty

It is important for foreign companies that are considering locating themselves in the Netherlands or importing goods to receive good, reliable information in advance on economic customs regulations, technical issues and fiscal requirements. That is why we have set up the ‘Contact Point for Potential Foreign Investors’ (APBI). The APBI works together with the National Value Team (LWT) and the Binding Tariff Information (BTI) team. BTI decisions are subject to objection and appeal, and ensure legal certainty by providing clarity in advance about the classification of goods and the associated customs tariffs. Dutch Customs also works closely with the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate). The NFIA also assists and advises foreign companies in setting up, rolling out and/or expanding their international activities in the Netherlands.
