Import declaration for (veterinary) pharmaceuticals has changed
27.08.2024
Since 1 July 2024, you must submit declarations for medicines and active substances differently. You are now required to always include a document code, and, if necessary, also the authorisation or registration number. This new requirement also applies to veterinary pharmaceuticals as defined in Article 4, Section 1, of Regulation (EU) 2019/6.
The following document codes are required:
- Do you have a wholesale distribution or manufacturing authorisation for the import of (veterinary) pharmaceuticals into the Netherlands? Then you are required to use the document code 1400 and to include the number of the authorisation that you used in your declaration.
- Do you have an API registration for the release of active substance for (veterinary) pharmaceuticals into free circulation? Then you use the document code 1450 and include the registration number you used.
- Are you releasing goods into free circulation that do not fall under the Medicines Act or the Animal Act but are classified under a similar category in the Tariff Manual (Gebruikstarief)? Then you must include the fictitious document code 1499. By doing so, you indicate that these goods are not subject to the Medicines Act or the Animal Act and do not need to comply with the obligations of that legislation.
To complete your import declaration, you must enter one of the document codes. If you fail to do this, we will not accept your declaration.
