Before you send your return

Before you send your return to the Tax and Customs Administration, there are a number of matters you should consider.

Do not send any enclosures

The Tax and Customs Administration processes your tax return electronically, so do not send any enclosures with your return, unless the return explicitly states that you should. If you are using a printed return form, do not attach the pages of the return to each other or to the front page.

State your bank account number for a refund

If you are owed a refund, the Tax and Customs Administration will transfer the money to the bank account number stated on the Invitation to file a return or on the front page of the C Form. If that account number is incorrect or if no account number is stated, you can fill in the correct number in the tax return program or on the front page of the printed tax form. The account number must be with a Dutch bank. The account may not be a savings account.

Please note!

If no account number is given and you do not fill one in, this will delay the payment process. Fill in the account number in the section 'Your account number for refunds' only. If you fill in an account number elsewhere, the Tax and Customs Administration will not be able to process it.

Change of name and address data

We use the name and address details that were last known to us for correspondence with you. You should therefore pass on your changes of address using the form Submitting a change of address. Did you move to the Netherlands in 2009? If so we will receive your address details from your municipal authority.

If your 2010 income will significantly differ from your 2009 income

If you expect your 2010 income to significantly differ from your 2009 income, you can request the Tax and Customs Administration in writing to take that into account in the provisional assessment for 2010. Please send the letter separately to the tax office that is competent to handle your case. Do not send it with your tax return.

Privacy

The Tax and Customs Administration registers the data that you fill in on the tax return form. The Tax and Customs Administration treats your data with care and will never disclose them to third parties without good reason. However, the Tax and Customs Administration is required to exchange data with certain other public authorities and similar agencies.
