Citizen Service Number /tax and social security number
On 26 November 2007 the Citizen Service Number (BSN) was introduced. In many case, the tax and social security number is due to be replaced by the citizen service number. The citizen service number consists of the same digits at the tax and social security number.

The citizen service number is a unique number for everyone who has to do with the Dutch authorities. Example: You have a citizen service number if you are registered with the Municipal Personal Records Database (Register Office) of your municipality.
Obtaining the citizen service number (BSN).
If you are registered in a municipality in the Netherlands on 26 November 2007 or later, it will not be necessary for you to take any action yourself. You may use the digits of your tax and social security number as citizen service number.
Citizen service number (BSN) and companies
Every tax payer is registered with us under a unique number. Fiscal number applies to legal entities and other types of collaboration.
